Pomimo silnej burzy, która nawiedziła stan Floryda, w ten czwartek odbyła się nowa edycja Billboard Latin Music Awards 2022 wbrew wszelkim przeciwnościom z Watsco Center w mieście Miami, gdzie głównym zwycięzcą ceremonii okazał się być Bad Bunny
Z dziewięcioma zwycięstwami — w tym wykonawca roku, trasa koncertowa roku i autor piosenek roku — Bad Bunny był wielkim zwycięzcą podczas Billboard Latin Music Awards 2022 .
Portorykańska gwiazda, która bije rekordy frekwencji i listy przebojów, zabrała również do domu nagrodę za najlepszy latynoski album roku i najlepszy latynoski album rytmiczny roku za Un Verano Sin Ti, najdłużej wydawany album na pierwszym miejscu na liście Billboard 200 do tej pory w tym roku, a także wykonawca roku Hot Latin Songs i Top Latin Albums, artystęroku i tropikalną piosenką roku dla „Volví”.
Po Bad Bunny w mniejszej liczbie zwycięstw był Farruko ze swoim hitem „Pepas”, z którym zdobył upragnioną nagrodę Hot Latin Song of the Year, a także sprzedaż, streaming i latynoską piosenkę rytmiczną.
Kolumbijska piosenkarka Karol G, która jest w trasie i dlatego też nie była obecna na ceremonii wręczenia nagród, zdołała zdobyć 3 nagrody w sekcjach Hot Latin Song Vocal Collaboration of the Year za „Mamiii” i podzieliła się tą nagrodą ze swoją przyjaciółką Becky G. „La Bichota” zdobyła również nagrody dla Artystki Roku w kategorii Hot Latin Song oraz Top Latin Female Artist of the Year.
Tymczasem Aventura zdobyło dwie nagrody w kategoriach Tropikalny Artysta Roku i Tropikalna Pieśń Roku za „Volvi” z Bad Bunny, a Rauw Alejandro zdobył również dwie nagrody w kategoriach Latynoska Piosenka Roku Airplay i Piosenkę Roku Latynoski Pop za „Todo de Tí”.
W regionalnym meksykańskim gatunku Eslabón Armado i Grupo Firme zdobyli po kilka statuetek, a nieobecny Christian Nodal zdobył nagrodę dla Regionalnego Meksykańskiego Artysty Roku Solista. Ivan Cornejo został nagrodzony debiutującym artystą roku i regionalnym meksykańskim albumem roku za „Alma Vacía”.
Nagrodę otrzymali także Enrique Iglesias, Maná, Marc Anthony, Romeo Santos, Rosalía, Skrillex, Tainy oraz historyczny duet Wisin & Yandel.
Ponadto przyznano nagrody specjalne artystom takim jak Raphael, który otrzymał nagrodę Lifetime Achievement Award, Chayanne the Icon Award i piosenkarka Christina Aguilera – Billboard Spirit of Hope Award, a Nicky Jam otrzymał nagrodę Hall of Fame z rąk własnego ojca, Dona José Rivery.
Również podczas gali wokalista Gilberto Santa Rosa ogłosił Billboard Legend Award.=, którą otrzymał José Feliciano, który podziękował za wyróżnienie poprzez nagranie wideo, w którym przeprosił również za niemożność wzięcia udziału z powodu huraganu Ian.
